    Communication services

    Well-qualified and competent in medical writing, editing, and medical communications with extensive experience in many therapeutic areas.

    While not exhaustive, the following lists the types of services provided:

  • Journal submissions e.g. primary papers (from clinical trial reports or raw data), health economics & outcomes research manuscripts, review papers, case studies, letters to the Editor
  • Congress-related activities e.g. abstracts, scientific posters, symposia abstract books, conference reports/symposia proceedings, competitor reviews
  • Meetings e.g. advisory board reports, executive summaries, meeting reports, slide presentations
  • Research & Development materials e.g. clinical study protocols, clinical study reports, investigator brochures
  • Product-support materials e.g. product monographs, detail aids, key paper summaries, slide presentations & associated text
  • Medical education materials e.g. books and book chapters, newsletter/magazine articles, slide kits, training manuals
  • Patient and lay-public resources e.g. patient information leaflets, disease information booklets
  • 'Bespoke' & 'one-off' medical writing specific to requirement
  • Experience as a ‘Medical Information Officer’.

    Experience in a wide range of specialities, willing to work in any clinical therapeutic area, and skilled in learning new subjects, including:

  • Respiratory disease (e.g. asthma, COPD, inhaler devices)
  • Pain & Inflammation (e.g. COX-2 inhibitors, NSAIDs, opioids)
  • Rheumatology (e.g. rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis)
  • Diabetes
  • Anti-virals/bacterials/fungals (e.g. HIV/AIDS infection)
  • Urology (e.g. incontinence/overactive bladder)
  • Haematology (e.g. anaemia [recombinant human erythropoietin])
  • Cancer (e.g. breast, lung, multiple myeloma)
  • Osteoporosis
  • Men's/women's health (e.g. erectile dysfunction, contraceptives, HRT)
  • Gastrointestinal (e.g. ulceration, GERD, antiemetics, constipation)
  • Regenerative medicine (e.g. cartilage repair)
  • Vestibular disorders.

    Profile

  • Over 12 years experience of medical writing and editing within the pharmaceutical industry (GlaxoSmithKline, Boehringer Ingelheim, latterly with Janssen-Cilag as Medical Writer & Publications Manager UK & RoI), and a medical communications company, and self-employed for over 7 years
  • Worked alongside key opinion leaders and consultants worldwide; covered conferences and advisory boards. Clients mainly from within major pharmaceutical companies, medical communications agencies, and publication houses, although also individuals
  • Experience as a part-time Managing Editor on three journals, gaining a view from 'the other side' of publishing, with insight into what editors and reviewers are specifically looking for in publications
  • Experience of interim management, providing short-term ‘hands-on’ medical writing, editing, and communications
  • Experience as a Medical Information Officer, answering medical enquiries and writing standard letters
  • Conscientious about all work undertaken, providing clients with a high standard of service and quality of work, with adherence to timelines
  • Qualifications: PhD, BSc (Hons), MI Biol; Member of EMWA, EASE, CSE.
